Meet the Dogs of uShip

Chevy is a 9-year-old Golden Retriever from Plaquemine, LA. Her reputation as the most popular girl in school precedes her. You can almost always find Chevy seeking out a good butt scratch, diving in for a swim, or making someone’s day by becoming their new best friend.

Jeeves is a ball of energy and fun. If he’s not playing outside with his friends, he’s probably plotting to jump on your chair as soon as you stand up. The only thing he loves more than playing tug-of-war is getting treats and then running to his bed to eat them. Some say that in his past life, he was probably a cat, due to his curiosity and intelligence. Come by and trade some treats for a high-five, his favorite trick!

Fenway, AKA Fenway Fred, started his life at the Hill Country SPCA in Fredericksburg, TX but became an official Austin pup at the age of 9 weeks. Fenway joined the uShip family along with his siblings (Riley and Po-boy), who are now his co-working-pups. Fenway prefers snacks to naps and is still hoping that digging in his water bowl will lead him to his mom’s missing running sock. Incidentally, he is also a fan of the Red Sox (although he doesn’t realize it – yet).

Riker is a Boxer, American Staffordshire Terrier, Chihuahua, Chow Chow mutt adopted from Austin Animal Center. His favorite pastimes are cuddling, belly scratches, tug-of-war, and trips to Auditorium Shores. He fancies himself the boss, but he knows his place with children and cats. You must obey when he gazes into your eyes while telepathically broadcasting: “Cookies, please!”

Lincoln and his owner start every morning with a healthy howling session before they commute to work. It helps Lincoln shake off the sleepies for a long day of sitting on his owner’s desk, being stuffed with treats (and the occasional piece of bacon provided by uShip’s resident chefs!). His interests include getting pets. That’s it. Pets are life and nothing else matters. While he may appear a neurotic ball of anxiety and self-doubt, once you get to know Lincoln he will shower you with love, snuggles and stinky kisses. He currently assists in on-boarding and training for the customer operations department.

Scout is a 1-year-old golden retriever from Elgin, Texas who is named after her literary idol, Jean Louise Finch. She is a blonde bombshell and an outdoor enthusiast who loves working a nap or two into her daily grind. She is a diehard Colorado Rockies and Texas A&M Aggies fan and loves to catch the game (and a few belly rubs from strangers) at Little Woodrow’s.

Hi, I’m Moose! I’m a 6-year-old rescue English Shepherd mix. My favorite pastimes include: sleeping, bird watching, and receiving endless pets. If we ever meet, give me a good belly or butt scratch, and I’ll be your instant best friend for life!

Miska (little bear in Eskimo) is a 9-month-old Alaskan Klee Kai. Although she is often mistaken for a Siberian Husky puppy, she is almost fully grown at ~17 pounds. She comes to uShip every day, tracking everyone’s movements with her piercing blue eyes. With no fear of thunder nor fireworks, she rarely barks, but often gets a case of the woo-woo’s with some occasional yet adorable “I-wov-u” howling.

Dottie is a 6-year-old female Papillon, a breed descended from French Royalty, and she acts like it. She is very affectionate and loyal to her family, but is also high maintenance, earning her the moniker “Princess Dottie”.

Kermit the Dawg was adopted in July 2019 from Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas. He is a fully deaf and partially blind Double Dapple Dachshund with albinism, but this little guy doesn’t let anything slow him down! He is the pure definition of happy-go-lucky, and will happily give nuzzly neck cuddles to any new friend he makes. He holds his own among his coworker pups, never letting you know anything is different about him.

Layla is a local girl from Cedar Park. She became my best friend at 8-weeks-old and the last 6 years have been amazing. She loves living in the #1 dog-friendly city in the US. Her favorite activities include greenbelt hikes, Town Lake baths and the downtown street smells. Look for her autobiography “Ball is Life” which will be in stores soon.

The name’s Beatrice, but you can call me Bea. I’m Chair of my department’s welcoming committee and I’m glad to meet you! I grew up here at uShip and have been coming in daily since I was 8-weeks-old. When I’m not at my desk, you can find me outside running around with other office pups or lying upside down soaking up the sun. I enjoy chasing my own tail and sitting like a frog.

Archie is a mixed breed, primarily consisting of ears and legs, with a touch of Doberman and Heeler peppered in. Sunbathing, long walks in the park, and playing with any and every dog are what spark joy for this boy. Archie’s perfect day would include each of these elements, plus some time spent honing his hobby: chomping on running water. It’s difficult to confirm, but the legends say this pup has never experienced the phenomenon of fatigue.”

Chloe the Golden from California loves chasing leaves in the fall, but once she catches them, isn’t sure what to do with them.  Chloe can almost always be found resting on her bed, beckoning all passerby’s for a good back scratch.

Riley is a chill and rambunctious little puppy. She loves to sleep in, sometimes ’till even 1 in the afternoon, if she’s allowed to. Get her riled up and there’s very little you can do to calm her back down. She loves pouncing on anything that you’ll toss for her, but she hates bringing it back to you. While she can finally control both her ears, she prefers to put forth a minimal effort and only perks her left ear up. Finally, regardless of her small size (she’s the runt of the litter), her favorite thing to do is pick on her much bigger brother, Fenway, that “works” at uShip as well.

Leni, AKA Leonard, Leonidas, Lennifer or Weenie, is a middle-aged miniature dachshund, bursting with enough feistiness to fill a dog twice her height and half her length. While she prefers to work from home most days, she is an enthusiastic member of the marketing team, often lending a paw in creative exercises and proofreading. Her love language is food (but no boring, dry biscuits, please), and she can easily be disarmed with a few raspberries on her tummy and a soft blanket. Although she does spend the vast majority of her days asleep (an estimated 94% of her life), she spends every minute of her two waking hours per day fruitfully.

Ranger is a mix of perfection and joy. He’s a happy puppy who loves coming to the office each morning and playing with all his puppy friends.

Janie is an 8-year-old pit bull mix who enjoys affection, being lazy, and anything related to treats. She was rescued from a shelter in Columbus, Ohio and made the trip to Texas because she hates the snow and cold. She loves people and has particular skill exploiting her puppy dog eyes for pets, food, and attention. She’s smart, too! Her list of known tricks includes sit, stay, lay down, roll over, play dead, sit pretty, give hugs, give kisses, shake (with both paws), pound it, touch, stand, catch, jump, find, and speak, including most of those non-verbally as well. She’d be happy to demonstrate, for a treat of course!

After receiving his degree from Hogwarts, Mad-Eye Moody settled into office life nicely. He enjoys meetings because they are excellent places to snore and look cute simultaneously. He has no concept of shame. 100 treats to Slytherin!

Cookie Monster mostly works from home these days but enjoys office visits to spread the word that Ball Is Life. He likes standing to meet you, jumping to meet you, following his owner everywhere, and pizza. He is terrified of balloons, skateboards, and ceiling fans.

Birthday is July 20th, 2017 (I think) — he’s a lean 24 pounds of muscle — he’s a little reserved at first, but he’s easy to win over with a treat and a belly rub. He’s a smart dude a generally happy dog!

Honey, like most dragons, loves to eat cats. Her hero is Daenerys Targaryen, and like her idol, she asks only that those who approach her simply bend the knee and provide cookies.

Oppie is a 6-month-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi sporting a bow tie and a sunny disposition where he goes. He is most playful with dogs 4 times his size and loves stock piling toys.

Louie is a spunky little street rat who was found outside a restaurant at just 3-months-old. She’s half chihuahua (which explains her attitude) mixed with a little mini poodle and cocker spaniel. Louie has since traded the streets for her throne atop her mother’s desk where she frequently barks at passersby letting them know who’s boss. Louie’s hobbies include chewing on sticks, burying treats, sending Slack messages to the whole office, stealing toys from her office-mates, and stealing the hearts from all the hoomans. She is fiesty, but will roll over like a fainting goat when others approach her. All she wants in life is endless belly rubs and for everyone to hear her howl. You know those people who are naturally athletic, proudly sporting a flawless, graceful gait and the mindset to match? Keller is that person in dog form. But Keller would rather stretch her legs in a game of tug-o-war than fulfilling her breed’s sporting roots. She is a forever puppy who can be shy at first, but quickly warms up to new friends who offer her treats.

Junebug is a vibrant 3-year old pup with a passion for running up and down the stairs as fast as canine-ly possible. She spends her days convincing her humans to play fetch, bossing people around, soliciting belly rubs and making friends with puppies.
