uShip Service Week
Each May the uShip team dedicates one week to helping our local community in partnership with the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Austin. This year we were able to dedicate 20 hours of volunteer work to helping feed and home our local communities.
About uShip Gives
From the very beginning, uShip has existed for the sake of helping. While our day-to-day work centers around helping solve transportation challenges with innovative solutions, we recognize and appreciate our responsibility to serve those in need around us. We take this commitment seriously and have made it a priority to make service a foundational element in the fabric of our culture.
In 2005, uShip’s first charitable initiative — Highway to Help — was born in the wake of a natural disaster — Hurricane Rita — that ravaged southeast Texas. Highway to Help mobilized and leveraged uShip’s growing network of independent transporters who stepped up to deliver supplies at little or no cost to those impacted by Rita. As word of the charitable delivery option got out, the initiative took on a life of its own beyond disaster relief. Providers also began helping non-profit organizations, animal rescue groups, those simply down on their luck, and more.
Several years later, in 2010, uShip took it a mile further with Help on Wheels, its own transport initiative, which allowed us to give back directly. The 40-foot Help on Wheels cargo RV traveled cross-country, transporting animals from the Gulf oil spill, bringing hay to Colorado horses, delivering thousands of charitable auction items, plus dozens of other unique transport runs to bring relief to people, animals, and organizations that needed it.
Today, our efforts are spread across an array of initiatives. We support dozens of charities and organizations which work to better the lives of people in our community in Austin and beyond. Our charitable giving and volunteer work benefits local school kids, those affected by natural disasters, elderly folks in need of a hot meal, people struggling with homelessness, among many others.
Tapping into the utility of our network of trustworthy transporters and the dedication of team uShip, we’re working together to make a better future for everyone.
